You will conduct a job analysis using at least two interviewees (you may not be one of those interviewees) and any other resources you feel you need. You may choose to analyze a job that you currently hold; although you need to make sure that you put your own personal experiences away and ask your interviewee for the information as if you don’t know anything. You may also choose a job that a family member or friend holds. The job does not have to be full-time, as part-time jobs also require job analyses and job descriptions. The purpose of your Job analysis is to provide a job description for recruitment and hiring; you do not have to consider any compensation issues in your job analysis. Your assignment will consist of 3 parts: An introduction to the job you analyzed and the people you interviewed What job are you using for your job analysis? Where did you data come from? Interview only, O*Net and interview, current job descriptions and interview, etc… Who did you interview (no need to identify the individual by name)? Time experience with the job. Relationship to the job (incumbent, supervisor, peer, client, etc). A description of the process you used in your job analysis What type of job analysis did you do? Task-oriented Worker-oriented Hybrid What questions did you ask your participants? Did your interviewee tell you what you expected to hear? A job description for the job you analyzed You must include at least the following in your job description: Job title Job summary Work activities Tools & Equipment used Job context Work performance (performance appraisal criteria) Job competencies
